Affiliate Disclosure
AFFILIATE DISCLOSURE
In 2015, the Federal Trade Commission released their new rules for Disclosure Compliance. These rules are set in place to ensure that readers or viewers of web media (blogs, YouTube videos, etc.) know if the blogger/presenter is sponsored, endorsed, or partnered with a different company. In blog terms, the readers need to know if the blogger is making money by sharing a link or product.
In compliance with the FTC guidelines, please assume the following about links and posts on this site: Any/all the links found on dashboard-destinations.com are affiliate links of which I receive a small compensation from sales of certain items.
What are affiliate links?
Purchases are made on external affiliate company websites: When a reader clicks on an affiliate link located on dashboard-destinations.com to purchase an item, the reader buys the item from the seller directly (not from dashboard-destinations.com). Amazon and/or other companies pay me a small commission or other compensation for promoting their website or products through their affiliate program.
Prices are exactly the same for you if your purchase is through an affiliate link or a non-affiliate link. You will not pay more by clicking through to the link.
I use two main types of affiliate programs:
1. Amazon affiliate links.
Dashboarddestinations.com is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon properties including, but not limited to, amazon.com. Amazon offers a small commission on products sold through their affiliate links.
If a blogger links to an Amazon product (with a special code for affiliates embedded in the link), and a reader places an item in their “shopping cart” through that link within 24 hours of clicking the link, the blogger gets a small percentage of the sale. Amazon links are not “pay per click.” If you click on the product link and stay around Amazon and purchase something else, however, I will get commission on that sale.
Anytime you see a link that looks like astore.com/… or amazon.com… it can be assumed that it is an Amazon affiliate link.
2. Product affiliate links.
These affiliate links work the same way: if you click the link and buy the product, then the blogger gets a percentage of the sale or some other type of compensation. Things like e-book bundles, e-courses, and online packages are usually affiliated links, as well. Again, prices are not different if you use these affiliate links. You will not pay more by clicking through to the link. These links are not “pay per click”, unless otherwise denoted. And on occasion, as an affiliate, I can get discount promo code to reward my readers, aka you, so by reading my blog you may get the some amazing deals.
What about sponsored content?
I don’t sponsored posts. I want to bring you real, unbiased information that benefit my readers. I’m here to motivate you to get off the couch, put down that game controller and go explore this amazing world of ours. As an outdoor enthusiast I know the right gear can make or break a trip. So I promote gear and products that I, myself use and hope will benefit you as well. However, if a post is sponsored by a company and it is a paid sponsorship, I will disclose this clearly in the post.
Curious About Becoming An Affiliate Marketer?
I spent years, and a lot of money signing up for affiliate courses and training programs and didn’t make a dime. If you have a website or are curious about starting one Wealthy Affiliate is by far the best program out there. The first week is free, and you get all the courses for free if you can get them done in that first week, it’s harder to watch all the training in that amount of time than you might think but not impossible.
You will have to pay for the domain licensing if you don’t already have a website but you would have to do that through other website building sites anyway, even the free ones. This belongs to you and is your creative property.
But if you decide not to continue with the program you get to KEEP THE WEBSITE. WHAT!?! Yes, that’s all true, you can use the first free week building the website you want using WA’s courses and then walk away and keep the website. You’ll have to use another site to host it, most likely WordPress but WA isn’t going to demolish your site if you don’t continue working with them. I would strongly advise you not to leave. WA has so much more to offer than the initial set up.
WA is a community, you can comment on other peoples pages and they, in turn, will visit yours; building traffic, shares, comments, and getting you a higher ranking on google. People will give you feedback and the more you work with each other the better and healthier your website will get. It builds on itself if you do it right and WA is the way to go.
These guys are amazing. Kyle will talk you through every step, building a website, Google AdSense, Clickbank, blogging, e-commerce. Everything you need to build and manage a successful website is all provided with support and a community of like-minded people behind you to help when things get slow or you’re not sure where to go next. WA’s format lets you learn from scratch or skip things you already know. The community will swarm your site with support.
I’ve spent hundreds of dollars on programs that wouldn’t teach me about other affiliate programs, I could only promote their course or program. MLM much!!! WA doesn’t do that, they want you to thrive so they will break down Amazon affiliate programs, Ebay, Etsy, and even help you get other companies affiliate links up on your site and running so you can start making an income and growing your business. An even more amazing thing is if you’re active in the community, you can score points that will pay for your membership. If you put in the time and energy helping others they will pay for your membership and your access to this amazing community is free, free, free.
My site through Wealthy Affiliates has done more in the first month than I did in the first four years on my own. They are the key to success without bleeding you of more money than you’ll make. And sadly there are a lot of Multi-Level Marketing scams out there telling people they can make millions doing this. You won’t, but they will off of your work.
WA are truly here to help you be the best and create the online presence of your dreams. Hosting the site with WA is the same price or cheaper than WordPress, Godaddy, or any other web hosting and it includes all the educational tools and supportive community those other sites don’t. I tried WordPress on my own for years and had to figure it out all by myself. Wealthy Affiliates talked me through every step to build DashboardDestinations.com into a successful blog I love and I hope you do to.
If you want to make some extra cash through affiliate marketing and work from anywhere, Wealthy Affiliates is the way to go. Trust me, those other expensive black holes are not going to get you as far as WA and it will cost you so much more. Dashboard Destinations is productive and thriving entirely due to Wealthy Affiliates.
Happy Travels
See you out there.
